The dish has a relief decoration. The straight rim shows masks with fruit garlands, medallions with cupids riding on dolphins, winged angel heads and sea still-life motifs. The navelled surface is decorated with eventful scenes running all round the centre: the marching of the escort of Neptune, the god of sea. Water-nymphs, tritons appear in the wavy sea, with horns and flags. The bulging centre is decorated with a medallion, surrounded with acanthus leaves, showing Christ washing the feet of his disciples.

The referring remark in the notebook of Teréz Zsolnay runs as follows Neptun Schüssel .. von Museum in Wien. Relief 1877. october verde antique.

This ceramic object is a copy of a Neo-Renaissance bronze charger, produced by the Elkington &Co. (see here).

The design of the dish can be found in the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs (Inv.No. A.6l.447.35). The façon number of the plate is 387.
