The plain, round foot supports an egg-shaped body with short, splaying neck and a plain, round top rim. The surface is covered with jungle motifs: bamboos, tropical plants, flying birds, butterflies. The drawings are shaded with brush their cobalt blue colour finely dissolved in the covering glaze.

The shape can be identified with drawing No. 193 in the "Façon" Book I of the factory. The notebook of Teréz Zsolnay (see JPM. Inv.No. 1578-91- 1584) says the following for No.193: 1874 XII. Urwald roth á 50 f blau 50 f, which means that the vase had a mangane oxide variant as well. Teréz Zsolnay mentioned this series in her memories (see Zsolnay Teréz - Zsolnay Margit: Zsolnay. A gyár és a család története, 1863-1948. Budapest 1974, 54-55.).

This type of vase was modelled on the products of A. Jeary in Paris, two of which can be found in the collection of Vilmos Zsolnay (see JPM Inv.Nos. 51.363, 51.362).
