The red base is decorated a pair of golden dragons with two feet, standing on the sides looking up-wards. Their fiery tongue is looped together with the tail of two similar but confronting animals, en- losing a white rectangle that has a blue rosette of four petals in the centre. The fragment shows the half of a medallion on each side, enriched with a blue, protruding rectangle standing on the tip. Inside the rectangle, there is an eagle with spread wings, enclosed by a golden plait and concentrical green wreath with white flowers. Similar fabrics with the whole pattern unit can be found in the Viennese Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst (see Volker 1986 Inv.No. T.2615 p.6, pict.11). The pattern was modelled on a fourteenth century fragment, which is also in the Viennese Museum (see Volker 1986 p.6, pict. 10, Inv.No. T.1498). The illustration of the fourteenth century fragment is published in Fischbach 1874 and plate 48.
