On a black base are scattered the so-called bizarre style palmettes: many are coloured, globular, with rosettes in the interior and stars as stylized elements of the pattern also leafy branches with birds and flowers among them. On the palmettes, as on a cloud, are tiny figural scenes: hunting, agricultural and house-work, playing and making music. Among the palmettes — independently from the scenes — are representations of animals: birds, worms, domestic animals and fantastic creatures. This bizarre style palmette of French origin is a much favoured motif of upholsteries and hangings with gros and petit point embroidery at the beginning of the 18th century.
