The double plinth, tied by a turned stretcher, stands on a curved foot its baluster-shaped centre divides into two branches at the top. The corners of the rectangular top are rounded, the sides have serpentine lines. The centre field is framed by a broader strap work of poplar root the corners show tendrils. The frieze is wavy at the bottom its centre is decorated with applied carved motifs, hiding a broad drawer.
The table was originally owned by the donator's grandfather, László Sámi, director and professor of the Kolozsvár Lutheran College, who received it from the Wesselenyi family of Zsibo. According to family traditions, this table used to belong to Baron Miklós Wesselényi, who mounted a famous rescue operation at the time of the flood in Pest, 1838.
