Table

The top is an octagonal, black marble plate, inlaid with lapis lazuli and pear-shaped agate in the middle. The symmetrically arranged intarsia follows the octagonal shape and is repeated eight times: the tiny stones of various kinds of agate carneole, calcedon, amethyst root and other types - are place in oval settings and form a pear-shaped garland. Inside the garlands there is pietra dura intarsia, presenting miniature "landscapes". There are eight octagonal agate plates in the outer circle. The heavy marble top is supported by carved walnut legs. The four huge lion paws is much broader at the top, ending in parapet-like segments that are stretched by carved bands. The bands are decorated with pines, while the parapets are enriched with tendrils carved in relief and gilt. The table is said to have belonged to the countly family of Metternich-Sándor.
