The lying, rectangular box imitates bookbinding. The decoration of the front and back plates are identical, framed with scrolling, leaved foliage between gilt double-lines. The middle of the sides of the frame is enriched with a red leather application, pressed down with a gilt rosette. The surface is tooled in blind with Neo-Gothic a la cathedrale motifs, with a flower shaped of twelve ogees in the centre, flanked by two ogee compartments on the sides. The richly gilt spine shows leaf, scroll and dot motifs. There is a gilt SOUVENIR title inscription in the middle, placed in an oval frame closed by two applied triangles of red leather. The edges of the plates are gilt with dots, the inner sides have gilt frames with tulip motifs. The inside of the cover is lined with red silk. High, gilt sides were glued on the bottom plate. The inner side of the casket was enriched with a gold-printed, hand-painted picture depicting a swan floating on the lake in front of a garden pavilion. The box contains handwritten souvenir texts, written on coloured paper plates of gilt rims, in German, French and Italian, from 1840-1849.
