The box shapes an octagonal prism, with a folding top. The bottom is decorated with a male portrait with laurel wreath in a framework of flowers and leaves. Its edge is jointed and decorated with a narrow, carved border. The folding top shows a male profile in a medallion, among winged angel heads and garlands of flowers.

From the 17th century on, powdered tobacco was kept in small boxes that could be closed perfectly and could be carried in pocket.
