The box forms a fan. Its folding cover is chased with a scene: a satyr in a bower, holding a large cluster of grapes in his hand a putto and a sitting lady hold a shell-shaped cup under it. To the right, in the background, is an ancient ruin with columns. The sides of the box are narrow and are decorated with small fields of engraved lattice-work, rosettes, flower stems, birds, trees and buildings. The bottom shows a bird in a flowery bush. The silver mark of a small eagle-head, used between 1744-1750 in Paris, can be found on the bottom rim.
