The plate stands on three ball feet and rimmed with glass thread the middle part is faceted with lenses from the bottom. The surface is painted all round in brownish-black with scenes in front of a shore background: a lady with a courier bringing a letter to her, a lady with a man playing the lute and a hunter with a dog fetching the prey. The shaping and decoration of the feet recalls the works of the German Hausmaler, Johann Schaper (1621-1670).
