It has a well-proportioned pattern of two full medallions on a dark blue field and a partial medallion at the upper and lower ends. The medallions have hooking, lancet-leaf ivory arms and are linked by fringed ivory palmettes. The remaining area of the field is filled with rosettes, flowers and leaves.

Ellis includes it among the rare blue field carpets he proposes as analogues of a late 17th or early 18th century Shirvan or Karabagh rug with multiple medallions held by the Art Institute, Chicago, describing it as, "a rather small and narrow example on a blue ground". The rug was determined to be 17th century Armenian by Károly Gombos in 1983. Jennifer Wearden published it in connection with Azerbaijan embroideries as an "early 18th century Caucasian or Armenian Floral Carpet".
