The rim of the plate is plain, concave, the bowl is flat. The whole circular surface is decorated with a gay water scene, arranged in asymmetrical horizontal and vertical stripes. There are four frogs peeping out of the water, enjoying the sun, beside a water-lily bush reaching deep into the water. The graphic composition is slightly stylized, creating a flat effect in spite of the three-dimensional drawing. The greyish- white plate is covered with cracked glassy, transparent light-green glaze. Decorated with brown contoured transfer picture underglaze, handpainted in yellow, green and black scumble overglaze.
