The round plate has a relatively broad, splayed rim. Its surface is gilt with a chinoiserie scene: banks of a river with pagodas, trees, sedge and birds. The rim is lined with foliage, imitating motifs of Chinese lacquer pieces. It reflects an early tendency of the revival of historic motifs.
