On the front part of the cushion are alternating lilies in diagonal rows of foliage, while on the back, the stylized diagonal lilies only decorate the border of the cover. The insertion of homespun linen matches the colour of the embroidery it is decorated with reflected motifs of flames leaping from a dish. Two unicorns stand on each side of the dish with an inscription P.. .AMO above them and a symmetrical bunch of leaves behind. The diagonal rows of lilies were favourite motifs of Italian Renaissance pattern books they survived for centuries and are present even today in certain folklore embroideries. There is a similar cover, although without the homespun addition, in the collection of Kunstindustrimuseet in Copenhagen (Italy, 16th-17th century).
