Embroidery runs along three edges its motifs are of Turkish origin with boughs of tulips and pomegranates, springing from one stem then dividing and inter-twining again. In the oval curves between the boughs is a quotation from Albert Szenczi-Molnár's translation of the 42nd.psalm: MINTA/SZEPIII/VESPAT/AKRAA/SZARVAS/KI VAN K/OZI KI E/I ,KU M UGY/OIIAJT U/RAMRA: As pants the hart for cooling streams, so yearns my soul for thee, oh lord. Its companion piece (Inv. No. 9229) has the initials MKS in the same curves. Similar embroideries of Kolozs and Szolnok-Doboka county are referred to by Gertrud Palotay in her study.
