Ornamental album - Patent of nobility for Simon Vilmos Schossberger, 1864

The letter of nobility was bound in red leather, decorated with simple corner mounts. The ornamental metal application of the centre shapes a double-scroll, which is the initial of the family name of the owner: Simon Vilmos Schossberger. The eight parchment pages are covered with polychrome and gilt hand-painting and handwriting, enriched with coat of arms. The cover plate depicts the nobility escutcheon of the Schossberger family. Francis-Joseph gave a nobility title and the Tornyai forename to Simon Vilmos Schossberger, who was famous for his activity as an oil manufacturer, a tobacco planter and a merchant. The emperor forced his intention with the larger secret seal of the Apostolic Hungarian King. The longish case of the letter was covered in green leather. The bottom - where the seal is placed - is semicircular. The front is decorated with an indented frame that follows the shape the back cover is wrapped in cotton. Equipped with copper clasps and locket. Lined with white silk on the inside.
