The portrait shows a middle-aged man, wearing a uniform with a yellow collar and the Army Cross of Austria. The back of the diagonal, square frame of black wood shows a contemporary (?) handwritten inscription: Michael Batta k.k. Hauptmann 46 Jahre alt Kieffer p. [inxit] 1816.
