Mounted on the saz leaf and lotus flower pattern on the silver-gilt plate casing of this distinctive, pear-shaped Ottoman Turkish ceremonial mace are nephrites and more than 100 turquoises in high settings. The relatively simple
workmanship and large gemstones are distinctive marks of Ottoman metalware from the second half of the 11th century
H/ 17th century, particularly sabres, swords and saddles.
