The embellishment on the fan, which is made up of sticks ending at the top in semi-circles, consists of leaves and festoons running vertically down the full length of the sticks (in the middle field the pattern is broken by an S-motif)- The ribbon linking the sticks together is light beige. This simple type of fan was very cheap in its time. It was produced across Europe in various versions within the limits imposed by technique and materials, and later on could be discovered in every public collection. The piece MAA inv. no. 59.835 is made to the same design, the piece MAA inv. no. 53.2425 is similar, and the piece MAA inv. no. 54.84 is a variation (Cat. Nos. 93, 92, 96).
