The fan is made as though it has sticks and a separate leaf, an impression also suggested by a painted arch. The "leaf" is adorned with stylized, ruffled chrysanthemum-like blooms, with three steel rivets in the middle of each. Scattered leaf ornamentation fills the spaces between the blooms. The upper edge of the fan is embellished from end to end with steel inlay in a serpentine pattern beneath is a row of flowers attached to festoons. The individual flowers emerge from painting work done on two sticks. The guard-sticks are embellished with a festoon of leaves. Painting is similar to that of MAA inv. no. 20342.
