Plate - For Count Tivadar Andrássy's erstwhile Buda palace dining room

The surface of the round plate is flat, the slanted rim is eight-lobed. The whole surface is covered with the detailed, light brush-painted pattern in blue, green, brown and a light purple. The central bowl has flower stems starting from the center, ending in sketchy blossoms at the point of the curve framed by four rows of pattern. The rim has nine divisions of five irregular wavy lines, separated by a dynamic, rhythmic ornament of tiny lines. The shape was drawn in the factory Façon book 4 under No.2528, then marked as a part of dish set No. 2655. (The design is dated 1889 III, according to the notes of Teréz Zsolnay, see JPM Inv.No. 1578-91-1584). This pattern is not listed in the factory Décor book. The plate was purchased from the foster daughter of József Rippl-Rónai, as one piece of the Andrássy service.
