The top edge of the lace trimming is slightly curved the bottom is lobed, with a repeated pattern in each lobe. It was probably designed for an altar cloth, since the main motif is a cross sewn of metal thread, enclosed by a small ray wreath of flowers at the top and at the bottom of the cross.
