Longcase clock

The plain, prismatic plinth holds the splayed bottom part of lozenge decoration. The case of the pendulum fits into the curved top of the bottom part. Its narrowing body is also decorated with lozenges. The door of the case is framed by a bronze framework. Above the door, ensigning the framework, a bronze ornament appears composed of a globe, compasses, a square ruler, a pencil and a roll of paper. The case of the clock shapes a cartouche behind the glass door the engraved copper plate shows Roman numerals over enamel inlays. There is a bronze crest of flower motifs on the top of the clock. Exceptionally beautiful Ch. Cressent long-case clocks, in structure and decoration similar to the piece described above can be found in the Museum of Metz. Copies of the exhibited clock are in Windsor Castle and in the Österreichisches Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna.
