A typical piece of Italian linen embroidery called "Assisi work", and usually made in Umbria. The material and the pattern of such embroidery is beige linen the entire background is blocked out with red silk thread. There are two borders running along the sides with opposing, symmetrical bunches of flowers and pomegranates among the tendril motifs of rosettes. Different variants of this kind of embroidery can be found in most 16th century Italian patterns from the end of the 19th century onwards.
