The four, slightly cabriole legs are joined by a bent rod stretcher. The seat is trapezoid the back legs are continued in the back support, cross each other, then turn back to create the curved edge- bond of the seat. The central oval field of the back support is caned scrolling arm rests. This piece was published in the 1916 catalogue of Jacob u. Josef Kohn, on page 57, as Nos. 33 1/2 F. It was also published without identification number in books about the Thonet products (see Candilis 1980 p.48). The splayed curves and richly bent parts of the chair suggest it is and early Thonet piece.
