The designer of the two connected jewels Gyöngyvér Gaál is in the vanguard of Hungarian jewel making. She devoted this set to the memory of her mother lost early. It is characterized by crystalline forms, well meditated materials and deep lyricism. The photo as the ‘soul’ of each piece with the portrait of a young woman (the artist’s mother) shows dimly from under translucent “stone blocks”. Ulexite chosen for the cut stones does not belong to the traditional gemstones of jewellers. Its singular use is a sign of the artist’s invention as its “brittleness” mysteriously suggests the painful thought of transiency.
