The stout, bulging bowl has a curved, wicker handle. There is a naked female figure sitting on a relief, naturalistic poppy stem with leaves and buds that crosses the surface diagonally. There is a double ring of tiny lines running along the top and foot rim. Charpentier exhibited a similar wine jug together with his plaquette series of door lock ornaments at the 1898 exhibition of Modem Art at the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts. According to the catalogue, it was decorated with «leaved vine boughs with clusters and a dancing, naked female figure» This jug was bought by the Museum in the same year, together with the doorlocks. Its illustration is published in the Revue des Arts Decoratifs XV (1894- 1895), on plate after p.556, beside two vases also made by Charpentier.
