The rectangular plinth support a tapering coffin shape that stands on four claw feet. The two shorter sides are decorated with a stamped brass rosette one of the longer sides also shows a rosette, the other is applied with an eagle with wings spread over an oak and bay branch. Napoleon's figure, dressed in uniform, lies in the coffin. Triangular ornaments decorate the jointed side of the top. The famous triangular hat is placed on the top of the coffin, on a fringed cushion. Several similar copies were made of white-glazed stoneware, but it is also known with polychrome glaze (see IM Inv.No. 11.258).
