The rectangular field shows a scene from the Old Testament in a garlanded frame: in the foreground, are Judith and Holofernes, and on the right a battle scene with riders. In the background the buildings of Jerusalem are depicted. There is a majuscule inscription at the bottom, in three lines: JUDIT KAM VON PETULIA UND HALTET MIT (HOLOFERNUS EINSTRETT SCHLUG IN DAS HAUPT AB) IN BUCH JUDIT AM 13. The scene follows those of woodcut illustrations in 16th century Germany. The mould comes from a late 16th century German casting house, probably Wurttemberg.
