The rectangular glass plate shows a scene with many figures: a crowd of horsemen and pedestrians, standing on the banks of a river, watching the launching of a balloon. There is a flag on the shore and on the two sides of the balloon. Two figures in the basket of the balloon wave with flags. An inscription appears on the balloon, below the decoration: "Luftfahrt zu Dresden am 2. August 1809 ".
