Flower (part of a statue) - Wild rose

The slightly curved, silver stem can be screwed apart. The transparent, blue opaque wild rose of five petals (Rosa canina) is also detachable, etched matte. Between the petals, there is a long, narrow sepal, while the centre shows a number of tiny pistils. The sepals are covered with blue, the pistils with green enamel. According to the letter of Jenő Radisics written to Rene Lalique in 1904 (see Museum’s Archives, No. 261/1904), the flower was a part of Jean-Paul Aube's statue "La Reconnaissance", which depicted a female figure holding a flower in her hand. The statue won Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris International Exhibition and Jenő Radisics bought it. The flower acquired by the museum in 1904 probably replaced the missing original.
