The round, jointed foot is cannelured, ribbed, with an egg-and-dart decoration in the middle. The same motifs are repeated on the bottom of the cup, above the bun node and the stout stem. There is an oval cartouche at the middle of the cup, bearing the inscription: ifj. Herpka Károly tanár úrnak buzgó fáradozásáért az aranyműves stb. (sic!) ipartestülettől / Budapest 1890 június hóban. (To Professor Károly Herpka Jr. for his contentious work from the goldsmith's etc. (sic!) association / Budapest, 1890 June.). There are grotesque motifs around the inscription, covering the whole surface. The cover is detachable, narrowing towards the top, jointed, decorated with leaf and flower motifs, with a baluster finial at the top.
