The pierced ornamentation on the sticks, which are lobular at the top and follow the shape of a pointed arch, is Gothic, resembling as it does window tracery, points and stars. On the lower parts of the sticks flowers with many petals are depicted. As well as being gilded, the motifs were also inlaid with steel rivets.
