The leaf, which is framed by a broad band of tendrils, shows a Rococo garden scene: in the middle are couples conversing, on the left there are ladies grouped together under a sunshade, on the right a couple conversing by a stone balustrade, and in the background a hunting scene, country house and various garden edifices. The sticks are embellished-in twos-by a bird perched on a flower placed in a vase and by a flower within an oval frame. Marked bottom right: BERTRAND. Perhaps Antoine Valerie Bertrand (1823—?) On the verso, in a gilded Rococo frame, are allegorical figures representing the four seasons.
