Fan

The leaf, which is uncoloured, is bordered by coloured flowers and by the abundant gold tendrils that accompany them the details and contours of the leaves are gilded. The leaf is divided up by an anvil-shaped medallion in the middle flanked by an oval-shaped medallion on either side. In the middle medallion can be seen a pastoral idyll: two little girls sit at the feet of a youth plucking a lute next to them are lambs and a little boy, who is looking at a man arriving on horseback. On either side, in the medallion, there is a landscape featuring a castle with round towers and figures in a rowing boat in the foreground. The verso of the leaf is framed by gold leaves in the middle is a seated female figure fishing, depicted using sketch-like brushstrokes. The pictures, executed in pastel colours, are characterized by light-brown hues. On the sticks sit two ladies, amid shells and flowers in their hands is a little bird let out of a birdcage. On one of the guard-sticks there is a Chinese figure, on the other a young girl.
