The tortoiseshell sticks, which broaden towards the top and which at the top are cut almost in a straight line, are unembellished. The guard-sticks, on the other hand, display rich Renaissance-style ornamentation: in the middle of plant motifs adorned with turquoises, real pearls and garnets, there is a bird on the wing. The handle is fashioned similarly.
