The fan, made from cropped, coloured feathers, exhibits a purple-spotted and then grey-brown-white-brown striped pattern (colours listed from bottom to top). Additional similar fans, although with different coloration, are MAA inv. nos. 59.834 and 59-991 (Cat. Nos. 178, 180).
