The formerly white—now grey—leaf is framed on three sides by a black fishbone pattern on a green ground and by a row of spangles. Three oval medallions divide up its surface. In the middle one, a young couple sacrificing at the altar of love can be seen from among the clouds Amor, holding a garland of roses, is looking down on them. On either side, on a black ground, is a small grisaille landscape and bouquets of flowers and festoons of spangles supplement the ornamentation. The sticks are entirely covered with small leaf and festoon patterns in the upper part of the guard-sticks a bird sits on top of an obelisk.
