Three spangle-framed medallions divide up the leaf. The middle medallion is oval shaped, while those on either side are octagonal. In the middle one is an allegorical depiction: intertwined monsters with snake's heads biting the French fleur-de-lys, while their tails are smashing the royal insignia to pieces. Beside them, on the top of the Fan, an urn rising above rose branches, shines a royal crown. The inscription on the depiction is as follows: Vier ge / heim verbogne Silhouetten/von ausserordentlicher / Aehnlichkeit / des unglücklichen Königs und der Königen v. Frankreich / nebst dem König und der Königin von / England = Four secretly hidden silhouettes of extraordinary likeness of the unfortunate king and queen of France together with the king and queen of England. In each of the two engravings on either side stands a young couple in front of a tempietto. At the top of the building in the left one is the inscription TREUE = Fidelity on the base is bleib / uns / günstig = Favour us always. At the top of the building in the medallion to the right is the inscription VERNUGEN = Beauty, and on the base weich / nie von / uns = May we never part. On top of each side medallion sit two winged putti or children the three medallions are linked together by a festoon of flowers held in their hands. Between the medallions doves hold in their beaks inscribed sheets of paper (from left to right): Zartlich / -keit = Tenderness, Aufrich / tigkeit = Sincerity, Freude = Happiness, Bestan / dikeit = Steadfastness. The entire leaf is bordered by a simple lobular pattern. The sticks are unembellished. The same representation is to be seen on the contemporary print Simplicius Calender (fig. 72/1.). The meaning of the depiction is undiscovered.
