The entire ornamentation of the leaf, which is made up of a combination of silk and gold net, is in Empire style. Alternating curving and triangular festoons provide its distinctive design. Flowers fill out the spaces between them. At the bottom there are scattered flowers, while at the top, in a band edged with spangles, there are leftward leaning flowers among luxuriant leaves. The richness of the ornamentation is heightened by not only the variety of the spangle shapes, but also by the finish of these and the variety of the materials used. The yellow sticks are ornamented with pressed rose designs and with small steel rivets. A fan ornamented similarly and made using the same technique is given in the periodical Divat Salon, 1 November 1909 issue, 18, No. 97.
