The spangles scattered over the entire surface of the leaf end at the top in a row of arches the middle part is embellished by Empire-style ornamentation consisting of scallop motifs, which today are incomplete. The small rosette, scallop and geometrical motifs on the sticks are complemented with Rococo festoons of flowers on the guard-sticks. A white silk cord and a white silk tassel shot with gold are attached to the handle. The top and bottom of the box each have a flanged rim inside and out the box is covered with atlas silk. On the catch is a pressed, Rococo embellishment. On the top, which lifts up, is the following in gold letters: IRMA. In all probability this fan belonged to a girl attending her first ball.
