Fan leaf

The black leaf, which is edged by open blooms, is divided into three fields by flower festoons and scallop motifs in all of these there is a bouquet of flowers. Attached to the right-hand corner of the leaf, which is embellished with an extremely fine and meticulous pattern, is a label with an inscription: Eventail en / dentelle Chantilly / offert a l'lmperatrice / en I860 par le ville de / Bayeux, executee aux / fuseaux. = Chantilly lace fan, presented to the Empress by the town of Bayeux in I860, pillow [lace]. On the other side of the piece of paper are two coats of arms beneath a nine-pointed coronet pressed into red sealing wax with the inscription N° 1.
