The whole front of the concave dish is painted with plane, stylized fish, presented in top-view. There is a large one in the centre, with the typical bluish-green colouring. A pink and a purple- green, smaller fish is painted behind the large one. The background is a uniform pattern of stylized, rich green sea plants, enriched with two light yellow fish repeated three times. The composition follows Chinese models.

The façon number of the plate is 470 (year 1878), its decor number is 1305 (year 1889), according to the coloured design in the archives of the Janus Pannonius Museum (Inv.No. A. 61.456.2.1). In Teréz Zsolnay's notebook (JPM Archives, Inv.No. 1578-91-1584) it is said that the 470 façon number was designed in 1878 and produced in nine different sizes. Its original decor is numbered 441 and 446 in the factory Decor Book I.

The companion piece of the plate is in the Zsolnay collection of the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs (Inv.No. 51.4156).
