Both ex libris pieces of Wilson show the influence of contemporary art: the consequent use of the ornamental, black-base border reflects the issues of the Kelmscott Press and the book illustrations of Beardsley (see Le Morte d'Arthur). The central female figures resemble the ideals of the Pre- Raphaelites the characteristically delicate figures of Art Nouveau, with small heads, narrow shoulders, tiny hands and thick, decorative hair. The pictures do not indicate perspective, still they are impressive with the strength of lines and ornaments with the decorative, slightly over-refined drawings.
