Aladár Kriesch, one of the founder of the Gödöllő colony of artists, in his own ex libris presents the principle of “the clear source”, the main topic of Béla Bartók's Cantata Profana, completed with a motto from Petrarca (according to a contemporary critic). The deer, on the other hand, recalls the myth of the Magic stag from the Hun and Hungarian mythology. The artists, when turning to the sources of archaic Transylvanian and ancient Hungarian religion created archetypes of the characters of folklore ballads and mythological scenes. The deer is an often used motif in the works of the Gödöllő artists, and the symbol of life in one of Körösfői's tapestries.
