The white surface is enframed by a light blue stripe the centre shows the scene of the blood oath (Hungarian: vérszerződés, lit. "blood contract") in a circle, with the dates 896 and 1896 below. The bordering field is decorated with braids and divided by cord plaits. The four corners show the united coat of arms of the countries of the Hungarian Crown, twined by ribbons and enclosed by laurel boughs.
