Embroidery

The embroidery wants to revive the style and motifs of old Hungarian embroideries however, it follows the corner decoration of 17th century certificates instead of the embroideries of the same age. The pomegranate, the tulip, the pink and the hyacinth were all typical motifs of Hungarian decorative arts at the time of the Turkish reign their arrangement on a tendril and especially the corner decoration, on the other hand, were not generally used on old embroideries. The fine shading of the embroidery also follows painted models. The State Women's Apprentice School of Budapest was taken over by the Ministry of Trade in 1894 from the Women's Crafts Association that had been the previous executive body. Among the different crafts and vocations taught there, embroidery was a two years' course and it mastered an extremely high technical level, as it is proved by this sample.
