The cupboard has two doors it stands on a plinth that is cut in a curve line at the front. The pilasters and the doors have protuberant fields with cut corners. The thick rectangular top covers two drawers. The doors and drawers have copper knobs. The credenza was becoming more and more common in the dining rooms of the Italian cinquecento palaces, being modelled on quattrocento vestry-cupboards. Apart from its storing function it also acted as a decorative piece of furniture. There is another credenza in the collection of the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts, probably made in Perugia in the first half of the 16th century (Inv. No. 18738).
