The rim and the flat surface of the plate are painted with Chinese-style decoration, with famille rose. These floral motifs were usually used on pieces produced for export in the 18th century. Around the centre, there is a small bird of paradise, enclosed asymmetrically by flowers and butterflies. The rim shows four different butterflies and stylised flowers. Beside lilac, red, orange and black painting, light blue and turquoise, yellow, two shades of blue and purple-grey enamel painting were also used in the decoration, where colours are applied in relief way, surrounded by delicate contours. The inner painting of the butterflies is also gilt. The reverse of the plate is painted with blue flowers.
