In contrast with his earlier, historicizing or eclectic pieces, Reissmann on this sketch used typical Art Nouveau stylistic characteristics. The curved, corniced door frame is enlarged with a large oval of cut corners at the top. The oval depicts a calm landscape scene of a lake shore, with small trees in the foreground and snow-covered mountains in the background. Naturalistically shaped ornaments spring from the frame: the berries and twigs of rowan. Similar motifs are repeated on the round or
concave, divided fields of the door panel. The composition is enriched with refined pastel colours, especially the various shades of green.
